Greenhills Students in Cross-Border Initiative

On Thursday, January16th, 10 TY students representing Our Lady’s College, Greenhills, accompanied by their teacher Clara Ní Dhonnabháin, took part in a SEPI event organised by the PEACEPLUS programme which is managed by the Special EU Programmes Body. SEPI which stands for Shared Education for Positive Education is a cross-border, cross-community initiative promoting innovation shared education, and sustainability, focusing on climate action and peacebuilding.

The Greenhills team joined students from many schools North and South of the border in St. Dominics Grammar School, Belfast, at the SEPI Impact Day. The event provided the students with many opportunities to explore innovative ideas and participate in collaborative design sprints, all aimed at working together to solve real-world sustainability challenges.

All of the students enjoyed their shared learning experiences and are looking forward to completing a diverse range of projects with their assigned SEPI cluster teams over the next couple of months.

Collaborations include everything from new innovative ways to use seaweed and fertiliser to the design of new phone apps that will allow climate conscious consumers make more sustainable choices. Successful groups will get to pitch their ideas at the SEPI Climate Summit Awards in April.

All in Greenhills wish the TY students the very best of luck with their projects
