22nd Badminton Marathon 2022
7am 14th Oct – 7am 15th Oct
24 years ago, the students at Our Lady’s College began taking part in the annual Badminton Marathon. Unfortunately Our last marathon was in Jan 2020 and I thought that may be a sign to make it the last. Well, Our students thought different and twisted my arm to go again.
This year the marathon took place on Friday 14th Oct. As always Katlyn was the first to arrive at 6:30am (and one of the last to leave on Saturday morning). The Gym was buzzing with activity all day. At 2:30pm the hall was full to the rafters. By 7pm the overnight crew had arrived and all 199 settled in for a night filled with Badminton, Dancing, Eating and Laughter.
I| had some very cranky moments along the way but on the whole the girls were amazing and it was fantastic seeing students back having fun at school and creating memories they will have forever.
A huge thank you to all involved. Students who fundraised, teachers who took part, students & teachers who baked for the bakesale, Teachers who got out of bed to come in to help clean up, Susan and Anne Marie for putting up with all the announcements over the few weeks, Mary who looks after all the money, Jackie, Dorothy, Gerry, Paddy B ,Ray and so many more who made it possible to have this event. A special thanks to the early risers who came in to help with the clean up
All money raised will go to The Presentation School in Zimbabwe, The Gym Studio Renovation Fund and also fund Sports scholarships for Our students.
The total raised was €13,127 bringing Our grand total now to €145,692.
