25 Years of Badminton Marathon in Our Lady’s College
Twenty-five years ago, students at Our Lady’s College took part in the school’s inaugural badminton marathon which to date has raised an incredible 161,412 euro for charity.
This year’s marathon was held on Friday, October 13th in the school gym with the first shuttle taking flight at 6.57am! The gym buzzed with activity all day and was packed by 2pm. The overnight crew were ready to start playing by seven o’clock in the evening as two hundred students settled in for a night of badminton, dance, pizza and laughter. Students were joined by many teachers throughout the day and night who commented on how great it was to see students once again able to mix socially and enjoy themselves in a very worthy cause. School memories to last a lifetime are made on occasions such as these.
Fundraising this year has exceeded previous years with 15, 720 euro being raised. The money will be shared between Presentation School, Zimbabwe and student facility improvements and activity scholarships in Our Lady’s College.
Well done to all of the participating students and staff who continue to offer great encouragement and support. Special congratulations to teacher Anne-Marie Nolan whose idea it was to establish the first marathon in the school and whose ongoing passion and hard work ensures its enduring success.
